Endorsements of Exodus of Our Lives-Finding Your Promised Land:

“I really like this book! I like how Jan paints a candid portrait of what life can be like when we deal with abusive relationships, addictions, hopelessness, and various other curve balls life is guaranteed to throw our way. But even more than that, I like the way Jan masterfully paints a portrait of hope, pointing us to the promises of the Scriptures, while using practical, heartfelt stories—like his troubled friend from Indiana—to remind us that God has created a way out of our painful or tragic story.

Exodus of Our Lives takes us on an inspiring journey from self-centered living to what Jan calls the “Altruistic Journey.” To emphasize the focus of this journey, Jan points us to Helen Keller’s poignant words, “Better to be blind and see with your heart, than to have two good eyes and see nothing.”

So, if you’re asking questions like: Why is this happening to me? What’s the purpose of my life? Even if you’re simply challenging the religious status quo in search of a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Jesus, then this book is for you! I recommend that you invite your friends and family to take the journey with you in reading Exodus of Our Lives.”

“I’ve never liked driving to new places. I have the worst sense of direction. Even the thought of getting lost causes a sense of panic. Some time ago I started out on a new journey in life, a faith journey. I had that same sense of panic, as if I might get lost on the journey, which at times seemed unfamiliar and terrifying.

As I read Exodus of Our Lives I began to understand that I wouldn’t find these journeys in my life so frightening if I just prepared for them.

I began to look inward asking myself, “Am I really applying God’s word to my life or am I just reading and hearing his word on a surface level?”

As I read these pages, I began to discover the heart of Jesus. As I dug deeper into Exodus of Our Lives I realized I could do better if I began applying the wisdom Jesus shared through the Beatitudes to my own life.

I began to truly mourn the sin in my life and made the decision to be baptized. I was struggling with issues at work and started to see I often reacted poorly. Before this, I never even recognized when my reactions made things worse. As I continued reading Exodus of Our Lives, I read; “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” I applied this Beatitude to my situations and, what do you know, things started getting better at work!

I also asked myself, “Am I striving to do the right thing when handling situations and making decisions in my life? I really didn’t like the answer I found deep inside of myself! I realized I had been making many decisions and seeking answers that I thought benefitted me.

I read and reread, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Now, when the need to make a decision or deal with a situation arises, I immediately ask myself, “What is the right thing to do in God’s eyes?” I often find the right thing to do is not the easy thing to do, but it is the best thing to do. The results are always worth the effort.

Exodus of Our Lives is now an invaluable tool in helping to navigate the journeys in my life and I know it will be for you as well. I am finding my promised land. You can too!”
